No. 1 Auburn Equestrian to Host No. 7 Kansas State on Friday
Oct. 18, 2011
AUBURN - The Auburn equestrian team (3-0) will play host to No. 7 Kansas State (1-1) in their final home meet of the fall portion of the schedule at the Auburn University Horse Center on Friday.
Kansas State comes in having beaten Minnesota-Crookston 19-0 and losing to Baylor in a close one, 9-8. Auburn enters the meet having won three straight in beating UT-Martin 13-5, TCU, 14-6, and South Carolina in a 10-10 tiebreaker, 1486-1444.5.
"I think Auburn fans can expect a hard-riding Kansas State team to arrive here on Friday," Head Coach Greg Williams said. "They can also expect to see a talented Auburn team start to build on stronger rides than we have already."
Last season, the Tigers won both meetings between the two programs. Auburn first defeated the Wildcats 14-4 in the season opener in Auburn, Ala., and would then go on to beat them again in Manhattan, Kan., in a nail biter, 7-6.
"We hope that all of the Auburn fans can come out after school for a while to start their weekend off right and watch these girls compete for another championship run," Williams said.
The meet will take place at 3:00 p.m. (CT) and admission is free.
