Auburn Equestrian Rides Against South Carolina in Conference Opener

AUBURN - The Auburn equestrian team opens conference play against rival South Carolina Friday at 3 p.m. Central at the Auburn Equestrian Center. Admission is free.

"South Carolina is always one of the best teams in the country," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "It's exciting to get ready for any SEC rival. This being our SEC opener, we want to have a good showing being able to play them at home. Our goal is not just to win, but we want to win on both sides, Hunt Seat and Western."

The Tigers are 2-0 on the season with their wins coming against Texas Christian and Southern Methodist. The Gamecocks are 0-1, having lost to Texas Christian in the season opener.

Riding for the Tigers in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat are Chelsea Anheuser, Katie Breedlove, Lindsay Portela, Anna Schierholz and Lauren Sogard with Mallory Kolpin on exhibition, Grace Socha on demonstration and Elise Fraza as the alternate. Riding in Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences are Chelsea Anheuser, Elise Fraza, Dottie Grubb, Anna Schierholz and Grace Socha with Lindsay Portela on exhibition, Rachel Cooper on demonstration and Lauren Sogard as the alternate.



Riding for the Tigers in Western Horsemanship are Bailey Dymond, Kristin Hansen, Jessica Jones, Kylie Miller and Indy Roper with Casey Fowler on exhibition, Lauren Rooney on demonstration and Amy Bohan as the alternate. Riding in Western Reining are Jillian Fuller, Kristin Hansen, Lyndsey Jordan, Paige Monfore and Kim Pope with Kelsey George as the alternate.
