ASPCA Maclay Finals
AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn equestrian hunt seat rider Ashley Foster won the Southeast Maclay Regional in Jacksonville, Fla., over the weekend, topping the field of 39 competitors to win her regional. With the win, she moves on to ASPCA Maclay Finals at the Alltech National Horse Show in Lexington, Ky., set for Oct. 29-Nov. 3.
Foster, who will join the team as a freshman in January, was one of many junior riders from all over the country competing at the ASPCA Maclay Regionals. She has been competing in the equitation class all show season accumulating points towards regionals.
Foster, a Brookeville, Md. native, is no stranger to success at the national level. She has won the Large Older Junior’s Capital Challenge, The Washington International, the Tad Coffin Equitation Championship and the National Horse Show
Eight different regionals are held for riders to compete in order to qualify for the national finals. There are over 150 riders that have qualified for ASPCA Maclay Finals across the eight regions. The Maclay Finals consists of an over fences round and then a flat phase and additional testing over fences at the judges’ discretion.
