Auburn Equestrian Signs Ali Loprete and Elise Fraza

AUBURN - Ali Loprete of Red Bank, N.J., and Elise Fraza of Cincinnati, Ohio, have signed to attend Auburn University and participate in equestrian for the 2007-08 season, announced head coach Greg Williams.

Loprete, who attended Bank Catholic High School in Red Bank, N.J., is currently ranked 40th on the Bates USA Equitation computer ranking list and won the New Jersey Professional Horseman*s Association Year End Gold Medal while also being in the top 10 for both Equitation and the Junior Hunter Division since 2004. A USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Bronze Medal winner, Loprete won the Monmouth County Horse Show Association Sportsmanship Award in 2002.

Her competitions include appearing three-straight years in the Junior Equitation and USEF/Pessoa Hunter Seat Medal Finals from 2004-06. She was a USEF Talent Search Finalist East in 2005 and 2006. In 2004, Loprete reached the Zone II Junior Hunter Finals and Capital Challenge Equitation. She was in the Syracuse Invitational Bates Medal and Junior Hunter Finals and was in the HBO Medal Finals in 2003 and 2006. Loprete earned the New Jersey Professional Horseman*s Association Fall Finale Medal in 2000 and 2001 and competed in the Pony Finals in 1999.

"We have watched Ali at some of the biggest junior competitions in the country," said Williams. "We've also seen Elise evolve into a real competitor. We've seen what they can do both with different types of horses, and we expect great things in the collegiate setting.

"We are most excited about the energy and personality they will bring to our team. They are both exceptional students, riders and young ladies."

Fraza, who attended Summit Country Day School in Cincinnati where she also played varsity field hockey and lacrosse, competed in the *AA* Circuit, riding mostly young and inexperienced horses. She competed in the Medium and Large ponies, qualifying three ponies for the Pony Finals. Having qualified for NAL and WIHS, she placed fifth overall at Harrisburg. She has shown in both Small and Large Juniors, qualifying two horses for Junior Hunter Finals. Fraza has competed in the Maclay and qualified for the Maclay Regional Finals.
