AUBURN - Auburn equestrian's Paige Monfroe and Kristin Hansen finished second and eighth, respectively, at the National Reining Horse Association Derby in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Saturday.

"Coach Helfer and I are very proud of how our girls competed," head coach Greg Williams said. "Kristin and Paige represented Auburn well and certainly earned their spots as members of the nation's top college reiners."

The Collegiate Reining Championship is comprised of the top four reining riders from Varsity Equestrian, top four riders from the IHSA and the top four riders from the NRHA (National Reining Horse Association).

The two Tigers were selected based upon several criteria: season-long stats, performance at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships and comments from judges at the VENC meet. It will be the first time either rider will compete at the NCRC.

Also in action, was rising junior Indy Roper who won the Intermediate Non Pro on her horse, Chicsdundreamin , and incoming freshman Morgan Burns who won the AQHA Youth 14-18.
