Oklahoma City, Okla. -
The Auburn equestrian team was well represented at the 2012 NRHA Collegiate Reining Challenge in Oklahoma City, Okla.
“I am so proud of the performances of our girls,” Auburn head coach Greg Williams said. “Indy had an unfortunate break in the very end of her pattern, but she still performed well. Stephanie had a good draw for her, and I felt she scored as high as she could on her horse.”
Associate head coach and Western coach Lisa Helfer was excited to see two of Auburn’s top returning riders have strong performances at the competition and have the opportunity to continue competing during the Tigers’ offseason.
“We were very pleased with the way both Stephanie and Indy performed today,” Helfer said. “They represented Auburn well bringing home such high finishes at an event that highlights the best 12 collegiate riders in the country. That is an accomplishment in itself.”
Roper and Rucci helped the Auburn Western team to an overall fifth-place finish at the 2012 National Collegiate Equestrian Championships.
Roper was named a 2012 National Collegiate Equestrian Association All-American in reining and an honorable mention All-American in horsemanship as well as a first-team Academic All-American.
Rucci was named the Most Outstanding Player for reining at the 2012 National Collegiate Equestrian Championships and was named a second-team Academic All-American.
