    June 19, 2009

AUBURN - The Auburn equestrian team will open the fall season Sept. 18 at home with a doubleheader against Texas Christian and Southern Methodist as the Tigers 2009-10 schedule was announced. Auburn will begin the spring season Jan. 31 at home against Oklahoma State.

"While this upcoming season's schedule may be tough; it has some fun changes from last year," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "We will be hosting a number of home meets on Friday with the opener having us competing against two different Texas teams on the same day. We also travel next year to a couple of new places in one weekend in Delaware State and Sacred Heart."

The Tigers will have eight home meets at the Auburn Equestrian Center with four in the fall and four in the spring along with hosting the Southern Equestrian Championships.

Following the doubleheader to open the fall season, the Tigers have their first conference meet at home against rival South Carolina on Oct. 2.

Auburn will travel to Tennessee-Martin on Oct. 16. The Tigers return to the Plains on Oct. 16 to face Texas A&M.

The Tigers will be on the road for the month of November facing Sacred Heart on the 7th and Delaware State on the 8th. Auburn will travel to Athens, Ga., on the 13th to face the defending national champions in conference foe Georgia.

After facing Oklahoma State to open the spring season, Auburn will travel to Blythewood, S.C., to face South Carolina on Feb. 6.

Auburn will return home to face New Mexico State on Feb. 20 and Baylor on Feb. 27. On Mar. 6, Georgia will make a return trip to Auburn.

The Tigers head west to Fresno, Calif., to face Fresno State on Mar. 13 and Kansas State on Mar. 14.

The Tigers return home to host the Southern Equestrian Championships on Mar. 26-27 and will travel to Waco, Texas, in April for the Varsity Equestrian National Championships.

"We are excited to see how our Friday meets work out this year and look forward to qualifying for nationals and vying for another championship," said Williams.
