AUBURN - Auburn equestrian's Lyndsey Jordan has been selected to compete in the Collegiate Reining Championships at the 2008 National Reining Horse Association Derby on June 28 at the State Fair Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The top 12 collegiate riders were selected based on their performances. Four riders were chosen at the 2008 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National Show in the NRHA sponsored Reining, four were chosen by the Varsity Equestrian Reining Committee, while the remaining four were chosen based on their NRHA accomplishments the past two years.
"Lyndsey is a very deserving person," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "Prior to Auburn, she was a top NRHA competitor and has been top competitor for Auburn."
Jordan, a native of Georgetown, Ky., has been a steady performer for the Tigers, earning MVP honors in Reining this past season in meets against Texas Christian, Oklahoma State, Fresno State and New Mexico State.
Prior to coming to the Plains, she was a two-time National Reining Horse World Champion, a three-time All-American Quarter Horse Congress Champion, a United States Equestrian Federation Champion and Reserve Champion, multiple Derby Championships and North American Youth Championships.
"She has been riding really well," said Williams. "I have high expectations for her at the Derby."
