AUBURN, Ala. -
The national champion Auburn equestrian team released its 2013-14 schedule, Auburn head coach Greg Williams announced Monday.
"Our schedule this year has some huge meets coming to the Plains, as well as interesting matchups on the road," Williams said. "Another triple-header in one weekend on the road in Texas will certainly be a challenge. Every meet has a different set of courses and patterns that have to be learned and practiced, so hitting three is very tough, but we're up for the challenge."
The Tigers will compete in seven meets during the fall portion of the season, with the final six regular season meets in February and March.
Auburn opens the season with four-consecutive home meets against Fresno State (Sept. 28), Tennessee Martin (Oct. 19), South Carolina (Nov. 9) and Georgia (Nov. 15), before closing out the fall with a series of meets in Texas against Baylor, Southern Methodist and Texas A&M (Nov. 22-24).
Following the winter break, the Tigers will travel to Delaware State for a tri-meet with Delaware State and Oklahoma State on Feb. 1.
"Although we will be playing Delaware State on their turf on the same day, playing Oklahoma State on a neutral site will be a fun meet for our team," Williams said.
Auburn will face all three SEC opponents on consecutive weekends, hosting Texas A&M (Feb. 15) and traveling first to Georgia (Feb. 22) and then South Carolina (March 1), before closing out the regular season at home against New Mexico State (March 8).
South Carolina will host the 2014 SEC Equestrian Championship, March 28-29, in Blythewood, S.C., and Auburn will look to defend its Overall National Championship and Hunt Seat National Championship, April 17-19, at the NCEA National Championships in Waco, Texas.
