AUBURN, Ala. -
The Auburn equestrian team had 17 riders named to the National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s Honor Roll, the NCEA announced Thursday.
“We are really proud of all of our academic award winners,” Auburn head coach Greg Williams said. “Being able to achieve success in the classroom as well as the arena is what it is all about. Special congratulations are in order for those achieving the First Team status while juggling a rigorous schedule.”
Hunt Seat riders Jennifer Delman and Jennifer Waxman and Western riders Indy Roper and Stephanie Rucci were named to the NCEA Academic First Team. To be named to the First Team, riders must have competed in a minimum of 70% of their schools’ meets, not including demonstration or exhibition rides, and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.
Anna Becker, Cheyenne Cracraft and Christina Lin earned NCEA Academic Honorable Mention status, while Coryn Bergenty, Morgan Burns, Julianna Cook, Piper Donnelly, Casey Fowler, Bailey Kleis, Caitlin Moran, Jessica Remy, Kasey Saucer and Melena Smith were named to the NCEA Academic Honor Roll.
The 2013 NCEA Academic Awards are based on grades from 2012 Spring and Fall terms. Any student-athlete who participates at an NCEA institution is eligible for nomination for any of the academic awards.
