AUBURN -- Coming off its second straight SEC Championship victory, the
Auburn equestrian team enters the Varsity Equestrian National
Championships with high seeds in western and hunt seat competition.
Both the western and hunt seat squads have earned byes in the first
rounds of competition, which begins April 14 at the Extraco Events
Center in Waco, Texas.
With a 15-1 record, Auburn's hunt seat riders secured the top spot in
the nation. As the No. 1 seed, they will face the winner of No. 8 Kansas
State and No. 9 TCU in the second round.
At 11-4, the western riders earned the No. 3 seed, setting them to play
the winner of No. 6 TCU and No. 11 Fresno State in the second round of

In the most recent collegiate coaches poll, the Tigers were ranked
second, just seven votes behind No. 1 Texas A&M. The Aggies have held
the top spot in the polls throughout the spring season. Auburn jumped
Georgia, who slipped to No. 3, falling 14 votes behind the Tigers.
No. 1 Texas A&M is 10-1 on the season, with its only loss coming at the
hands of Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.
The Tigers faced the Cowgirls in Stillwater, March 12 and came away
with raw score victory for their 12th win of the season.
"I think our whole team feels a difference this year," Williams
said. "They have become a very close knit team and it showed at SECs.
They are still gaining momentum though, so the best is yet to come. We
cant wait to get to nationals and compete."
Auburn will begin competing April 14 once the first rounds of
competition have been completed. The championship rounds for both hunt
seat and western will take place April 16.
