Auburn Equestrian Rides against Tennessee-Martin This Weekend
March 26, 2009
AUBURN - The Auburn equestrian team takes on Tennessee-Martin Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the Auburn Equestrian Center. This will be the last home meet of the spring season as well as Senior Day. The meet is open to the public and admission is free. "The biggest thing we have to do is stay focused on the meet that's right in front of us," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "When you get towards the postseason, a lot of talk goes towards SEC's and Nationals, and so one of the things that we want to finish, is to have a good, strong win at the end." The Tigers are 6-4 on the season, while the Skyhawks are 4-5 on the season with their last loss coming against Fresno State on March 7. Auburn defeated Fresno State on Sept. 19.
Riding for the Tigers in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat are Chelsea Anheuser, Elise Fraza, Ali Loprete, Sara Netherton and Jenny Reinhart with Maggie McAlary on demo and Jessica Braswell as the alternate.
Riding in Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences are Jessica Braswell, Dottie Grubb, Ali Loprete, Jenny Reinhart and Grace Socha with Rachel Cooper on demo and Elise Fraza as the alternate.
Riding for the Tigers in Western Horsemanship are Anna Beck, Amy Bohan, Bailey Dymond, Courtney Kobak and Kim Pope with Shannon Hinton on demo and Sarah Whitaker as the alternate. Riding in Western Reining are Ashton Fairey, Kelsey George, Jessica Jones, Lyndsey Jordan and Mary-Elsye Winchester with Courtney Kobak as the alternate. "We feel pretty good," said Williams. "We found some holes in our last outing against Oklahoma State when we had a narrow loss in Western, but we picked up a win in the Hunt Seat. Despite having to take that overall loss, I actually feel very, very good about how we're going to be able to perform in the postseason."
