AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn equestrian team had four student-athletes named to NCEA All-America teams, as announced Tuesday afternoon. Junior Demi Stiegler and senior Christina Lin in equitation over fences and senior Stephanie Rucci and sophomore Griffin Knight in reining.
The Auburn fences line up has been the strongest of the squad this year posting a 71 percent winning percentage through 13 meets. Much of that success is thanks to Stiegler who was a first-team selection and posted an 11-2 record, including one Most Outstanding Player honor. Lin garnered second-team accolades with a 10-3 mark and three MOP awards.
For Lin, it wraps up a career as a four-time All-American, earning the distinction in each of her four seasons at Auburn. Stiegler is in her first season at Auburn after transferring from TCU where she was an All-American in 2013.
Rucci picked up first-team accolades in reining after earning the same honor last season in horsemanship. She is a near-perfect 7-1 this season with three MOP awards. Knight, who was the SEC Freshman of the Year in Horsemanship a year ago, earned honorable mention All-America honors in reining. This is her first season riding both horsemanship and reining and registered a 7-3 mark in reining.
The Tigers will be in action on Friday, March 28 at the SEC Championships in Blytheville, S.C., as the third-seed battling No. 2 seed Georgia in the opening round.
