AUBURN - The Auburn equestrian team (7-2) is ranked second in the latest Women's Intercollegiate Equestrian National Coaches Poll.
The Tigers have wins over eighth-ranked Texas Christian, Southern Methodist, Tennessee-Martin, third-ranked Texas A&M, Sacred Heart and Delaware State.
In the latest poll, Georgia is first (104), Auburn second (97), Texas A&M third (82), Oklahoma State fourth (76), South Carolina fifth (70), Kansas State sixth (51), Baylor seventh (42), Texas Christian eighth (35), New Mexico State ninth (29) and Fresno State 10th (18). South Dakota State also received one vote.
The collegiate coaches competing under the Varsity Equestrian Championship umbrella initiated the national poll. The poll is released bi-monthly when the schools are in season with the next announcement scheduled for Mar. 2, 2010.
Auburn returns to action with a pair of home meets against ninth-ranked New Mexico State this Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. CT and against fourth-ranked Oklahoma State Sunday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. CT at the Auburn Equestrian Center.
