    Waxman and Lin ready for Winter Equestrian Festival

    Wellington, Fla. -

    Jennifer Waxman and Christina Lin will be representing Auburn equestrian at the 2012 Collegiate Equitation Challenge at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Fla.

    “I am so proud of the way both of them have been riding this year,” Auburn head coach Greg Williams said. “They certainly deserve these spots at such an elite event. They will represent Auburn well.”

    Waxman will be competing in Equitation Over Fences against 15 other top collegiate competitors. She will be competing against Oklahoma State’s Samantha Elser in the first round bracket. Waxman has been a strong competitor in the 2011-12 season with a 6-0-1 record, including an MVP. In her sophomore season, she has followed her strong freshman campaign with dominating performances, beating her opponents by an average of 10 points.

    Lin will be representing Auburn in Equitation on the Flat. She will be facing off against South Carolina’s Katherine Schmidt in the first Equitation bracket. Lin is currently 4-1 on the season in Equitation on the Flat with an MVP honor. In her sophomore year, Lin has been a force for Auburn in both Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences. Lin is a proven competitor, receiving All-American honors in the 2010-11 season.

    The competition will begin on Friday, February 10, 2012, in Ring 8 at 2 p.m. The finals will take place in the International Arena at 7 p.m. that evening. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for updates throughout the competition.
