AUBURN---The Auburn equestrian team has its first road meet of the spring season as it faces South Carolina Saturday at 10 a.m. Central in Blythewood, S.C.

The Tigers are 6-1 on the season with a narrow win against Texas A&M last Saturday while South Carolina is 4-3 with one of its losses coming against Auburn. The Tigers defeated the Gamecocks 7-3 on Sep. 29, 2007.

"South Carolina is a tough team," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "They are the defending National Champions as a team with their Hunt Seat winning the title last year."

Competing for the Tigers in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat are Chelsea Anheuser, Katie Breedlove, Alexandra Loprete, Coburn Park and Rebecca Rifkin. Competing in Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences are Jessica Braswell, Dorothy Grubb, Alexandra Loprete, Jenny Reinhart and Anna Schierholz.

Riding for the Tigers in Western Horsemanship are Amy Bohan, Shannon Hinton, Kylie Miller, Ashley Milton and Kimberly Tidwell. Riding in Reining are Ashton Fairey, Jewel Gibbes, Lyndsey Jordan, Paige Monfore and Kimberly Tidwell.

"Our Hunt Seat and Reiners need to keep executing like they have been doing, and our Horsemanship need to have no mental mistakes," said Williams. "If we ride better, I feel we can beat them."
