AUBURN, Ala. -
The No. 2 Auburn equestrian team opens the spring portion of the season Friday as it travels to Fresno, Calif., to take on Fresno State Friday at 11 a.m. CT, and No. 6 Kansas State Saturday at 11 a.m. CT.
Auburn enters at 3-1 (2-1 SEC) on the season after picking up wins over three top-five teams in the fall and only narrowly falling to then-No. 2 South Carolina on the road, 10-9.
Fresno State sits at 0-4 on the season and is coming off a 12-4 loss to No. 3 Georgia on Jan. 26. Meanwhile, Kansas State is 5-1 going into its first competition of the spring.
“Our spring semester is going to kick off this weekend, and we are looking forward to some good rides,” Auburn head coach Greg Williams said. “We will be competing in a double header with Fresno State and Kansas State, so the rides in each event are cut from five to four in each event. This means little room for error because there won't be many scores to make up ground on any major mistakes. Practices are going well so I anticipate Auburn doing well.”
Against Fresno State, riding for Auburn in equitation over fences will be Megan Bifano, Quincy Hayes, Christina Lin and Jennifer Waxman. Coryn Bergenty and Hasbrouck Donovan will be the first and second alternates.
In the Western arena, competing for Auburn in horsemanship will be Katie Buff, Griffin Knight, Danielle Long and Stephanie Rucci. Casey Fowler will be the alternate.
