Auburn (2-1) opens up its spring season on Sunday, January 28, when they face-off against Stephen F. Austin (4-1) at the Auburn Equestrian Center at 1 pm.
Auburn is coming off of a 12-7 loss to Georgia on Nov. 10, 2006.
"We are anxious to get back to competing," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "The practices have been going well and the horses are looking good."
This will mark the second meeting between the Tigers and the Ladyjacks. The last meeting fell on October 22, 2005, when Auburn swept SFA in every section, prevailing 1195-1101.5.
"Stephen F. Austin is coming off of a bunch of wins," said Williams. "They've had good wins over SMU and UT-Martin and they rode close against Georgia. We are looking forward to a great meet."
The western riders competing for Auburn will be senior Ashley Dickerson, Julie Gibbes and Whitney Kimble, junior Kimberly Tidwell, sophomores Ashley Griffith and Ashley Milton and freshmen Jessica Jones, Kylie Miller and Kim Pope. This will be Pope's first collegiate competition.
Competing on the hunter seat side will be senior Natalie Burton, junior Coburn Park, sophomores Jessica Braswell, Lauren Hulen, Jenny Reinhart and Maggie White and freshman Rebecca Rifkin.
"We are shifting the lineup a bit," said Williams. "We've got (Kimberly) Tidwell back, which should be a tremendous help. We are anxious to see how Kim Pope will perform in her first meet. We are holding out our top reining in Lyndsey Jordan so we can put in other people. I think that those we've decided to compete have got it covered."
The Auburn Equestrian Center is located off of Wire Road, across from the Auburn Vet School. There will be free horse rides for children during the meet.
