AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn equestrian team defeated Fresno State 11-5 Saturday for their fifth straight win on the season at the Auburn University Horse Center.
The Tigers took all four MVPs and won western horsemanship, equitation on the flat and western reining and tied equitation over fences.
Auburn improved to 5-0 while Fresno State dropped to 1-1.
"Our western girls had a very dominant effort," said head coach Greg Williams. "Our huntseat riders were in a tight battle all the way till MVP Lindsay Portela's final ride of the day, where she secured the win. It was another great win for Auburn."
Auburn's western riders handily defeated the Bulldogs, winning 6-2.
In western horsemanship, the Tigers were led by sophomore standout Indy Roper, who earned the MVP and defeated Madison Silver 73.5-71. Other Tiger winners included Chelsea Zillner over Kelsi Fischer 72.5-71.5 and Stephanie Rucci over Christa Beezly 72.5-70.
In equitation over fences, Tiger winners included McAlary over Dayle Fisher 86-70 and Jennifer Waxman over Chelsie Stone 81-74. Grace Socha and Holly Elsbernd tied with a score of 78.
In equitation on the flat, Auburn winners included Portela over Kimberly Budnik 85-79, Dottie Grubb over Lauren Carr 78-72 and Piper Donnelly over Caitlin Marshall 72-71. Bailey Kleis tied with Kimberly Steinbuch with a score of 74.
The Tigers return to action on the road Nov. 5-7 against Texas A&M, TCU and SMU.
