Waco, Texas - The top-seeded Auburn equestrian team won the second round of Hunt Seat, defeating eighth-seeded Kansas State 4-4 (1061-1048).
Auburn defeated Kansas State by virtue of a tiebreaker with 1061-1048 raw score after tying 4-4. The Tigers advance to the third round in Hunt Seat and will face fourth-seeded Baylor.
"We're just grateful to get out of that one," said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. "It was way to close for comfort. It came down to the last ride. Kansas State rode really hard; they obviously wanted that win as well. We're just fortunate to get out of there, and now we're ready to move on. I think our girls are ready to really step it up some more and be ready for the semi-finals."
Auburn tied Kansas State 2-2 in Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences. Tiger winners included Grace Socha over Leslie Yates 171-126 and Maggie McAlary over Kendall Marvin 169-156. Wildcat winners included Jennifer Rawles over Dottie Grubb 151-130 and Whitney Snyder over Ali Loprete 131-126.
Auburn tied Kansas State 2-2 in Hunt Seat Equitation on the Flat. Tiger winners included Jenny Reinhart over Whitney Snyder 151-148 and Katie Breedlove over Leslie Yates 123-122. Wildcat winners included Paige Kovari over Chelsea Anheuser 103-94 and Dresden Sommer over Rebecca Rifkin 111-97.
The third round will finish Friday with the team and individual championships on Saturday at the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo Complex in Waco, Texas.
