Athlon Sports, CSTV.com and Women's Basketball Magazine have ranked the Auburn women's basketball team in the top 25 in each of their preseason polls. Junior DeWanna Bonner was recognized by The Sporting News and Gballmag.com as a preseason All-American.

Athlon Sports ranked the Tigers No. 19, while CSTV.com has the Tigers at No. 25 and Women's Basketball Magazine No. 17. Bonner was selected preseason Third Team All-American by The Sporting News and Second Team All-American by Gballmag.com.

For the first time since arriving on The Plains three years ago, head coach Nell Fortner's squad is dominated by experienced upperclassmen. The 2007-08 team will include all five of its core starters from a year ago that helped lead Auburn to a 21-13 record and a trip to the "Elite Eight" of the Women's NIT.

The heralded junior class is led by two-time FIBA World Championship gold medalist and First Team All-SEC honoree DeWanna Bonner. Bonner led the team in points (15.1) and rebounds (8.1) last season.

In addition to Bonner, the returning starters consist of junior assist leader Whitney Boddie (4.8 apg), classmate Sherell Hobbs, senior Tamela McCorvey and sophomore Jordan Greenleaf, who earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team last season.

Newcomers to the team this year include Ruth Ketcham (5-8, G, Birmingham), Cassie Moore (6-4, C, Montgomery) and Alli Smalley (5-8, G, Arab).

The Tigers begin the 2007-08 campaign on Nov. 11 vs. Detroit at 2 p.m. in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum. Auburn will play eight teams this season that are currently ranked in preseason top 25 polls.
