AUBURN - DeWanna Bonner and Le'coe Willingham wrapped up the first half of the WNBA season with the Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm this week.
Phoenix split its most recent pair of games at home, defeating Washington, 78-64, last Friday before dropping Wednesday's game against Minnesota, 106-98. The Mercury are now 10-5 on the season, placing the team in second in the Western Conference.
Over the two games, Bonner tallied 18 points and 14 rebounds. Despite the loss Wednesday, she went 4-for-5 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from beyond the arc.
Bonner comes in to the All-Star break averaging 9.9 ppg and 5.7 rpg.
Seattle suffered three tough losses on the road before picking up a win at home Thursday. The Storm fell 69-66 at San Antonio last Thursday, 69-62 to Minnesota on Saturday and 78-69 to Chicago on Tuesday. Seattle wrapped up the first half with a decisive 73-55 victory at home last night over San Antonio.
Over the four-game span, Willingham totaled 14 points and added 19 rebounds. She finished at the break averaging 6.6 ppg and 4.9 rpg.
Phoenix and Seattle will return to the court to face off for the second time this season on Tuesday in Phoenix. Tip-off is slated for 9 p.m. CT.
