AUBURN - Former Auburn standouts DeWanna Bonner and Le'Coe Willingham are now in the second month of the 2013 WNBA season. Bonner and the Phoenix Mercury are currently 8-5 on the season, while Willingham and the Atlanta Dream continue to lead the Eastern Conference at 10-1.
Willingham and the Dream recently won games against Indiana, Washington, and San Antonio. In the most recent game against San Antonio, Willingham scored six points with six rebounds and an assist.
For the season, Willingham is currently averaging 3.2 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. The Atlanta Dream, with former Auburn head coach Joe Ciampi on the bench as an assistant coach, continues its best start in franchise history with the team's only loss coming to New York.
Bonner and the Mercury recently had a five game winning streak that ended with a loss against Minnesota. Against Connecticut, Bonner scored 19 points with eight rebounds. She also scored 20 points with seven rebounds with the win over the New York Liberty.
Bonner currently averages 15.8 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, and 2.7 assists per game. She is 12th in the league in scoring and ninth in rebounding. The Phoenix Mercury are currently third in the Western Conference.
Bonner and the Mercury will return to action with home games against San Antonio on July 10 on FoxSports, and July 14 against Los Angeles on Fox Sports plus. Both games can also be viewed on WNBA Live Access. Willingham and the Dream will return Tuesday at 9 p.m. on ESPN2 against Minnesota, and July 14 against Seattle on WNBA Live Access.
