AUBURN - Auburn senior Blanche Alverson has signed a training camp roster with the WNBA's Atlanta Dream, the team announced today. Training camp is set to begin on May 5.

"I am really excited about this opportunity with the Atlanta Dream," said Alverson. "It was a goal of mine to get invited to a training camp and to be able to do it in a place so close to home and Auburn is really exciting. I am ready to get over there, work hard through camp and see what I can do."

Alverson is one of 15 players currently on the training camp roster with the Dream. The WNBA limits active regular-season rosters to 11 players. Alverson will be one of two Auburn players on the Dream's training camp roster, joining Le'Coe Willingham. Willingham signed as a free agent with the Dream after spending last season in Chicago.

There is another Auburn connection on the roster as former Tiger head coach Joe Ciampi is an assistant coach with the Dream. A member of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, Ciampi is in his second season as an assistant with Atlanta.

Alverson finished her Auburn career as one of just four players ever to log more than 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 100 assists, 100 steals and 50 blocks. She ranks 18th all-time at Auburn in career scoring with 1,244 points and 19th in rebounding with 602. She also ranks second all-time at Auburn with 213 career 3-pointers and is one of just 33 SEC players ever to hit more than 200 career treys.

"Blanche has excellent shooting range and has a high-percentage 3-point shot, so we wanted to bring her in and give her a good look in training camp," said Dream Head Coach and General Manager Fred Williams. "She's also a player that will go to the boards and mix it up inside for rebounds, and who can run the floor very well."

The Atlanta Dream's 2013 season is set to begin on Saturday, May 25 with a 6 p.m. CT game against the Tulsa Shock.
