ATLANTA - Auburn's Blanche Alverson finished fourth at the State Farm College 3-Point Championship Thursday night at McCamish Pavilion in Atlanta. The senior from Andalusia, Ala., advanced to the semifinals of the event that included eight of the top 3-point shooters in the country.
"It was such an honor to be out here one more time in my Auburn jersey," said Alverson. "I wish I could have gone on to the finals, but I had a couple rim out on me. It was such a fun event and I've had a great time being here and getting know to everyone. It was exciting to get to go out and represent Auburn one more time."
Alverson was third after the first round with 16 points. She trailed North Carolina State's Marissa Kastanek (24) and Indiana's Aulani Sinclair (17). She finished ahead of Michigan's Kate Thompson (14), Delaware's Lauren Carra (14), Kentucky's A'dia Mathies (12), Middle Tennessee State's Kortni Jones (11) and Florida State's Alexa Deluzio (8).
In the semifinals, IU's Sinclair took the top score with 20 while Kastanek scored 17. Thompson tallied 15 while Alverson notched 14. Sinclair matched her 20 in the championship match, topping Kastanek's 17.
