AUBURN - The Auburn women's basketball team (19-14) will host Drexel (25-10) at 6 p.m. CT, Saturday at Auburn Arena in the Women's NIT Quarterfinals. The Dragons defeated Bowling Green 50-47 Thursday night to advance to the next round.
Drexel is 25-10 on the season and finished third in the Colonial Athletic Association this season with a 13-5 record. The Dragons defeated Iona, 59-50, in the first round and Harvard, 82-72, in the second round before beating Bowling Green.
Auburn is making its third-ever WNIT Quarterfinal appearance. The Tigers previously reached the round in 2003 and 2007. Auburn won the WNIT in 2003. This will be the first-ever meeting between Auburn and Drexel.
Tickets for Saturday's game will be available Friday morning. Fans purchase tickets by accessing www.AUBTix.com, by calling 1-855-AUB-2010 or in person at the Auburn Arena ticket office. Reserved seats are $10 while general admission are $7. Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy has purchased 200 student tickets for the game and the first 200 with an Auburn Ignited card will be admitted for free. After that, student tickets are $5 each.
