AUBURN - Former Auburn great Becky Jackson will see her name added to the Ring of Honor in Auburn Arena on Sunday, Feb. 17 as her No. 34 jersey is retired. Jackson will make her return to The Plains for her jersey retirement ceremony at halftime of the Alabama game.
A four-time All-SEC performer, Jackson finished her career as Auburn's all-time leading scorer and rebounder with 2,068 points and 1,118 rebounds. The Kodak All-American scored 38 points in a game, matching the second-highest mark in school history. She was named an AIAW All-State performer as a freshman and was also named to the Alabama State All-Tournament Team. In 1981 and 1983, Jackson was named to the American Women's Sports Foundation All-American team and was named MVP of the SEC Tournament in 1981.
Her career totals are still among the best all-time at Auburn as she ranks second in career scoring, behind DeWanna Bonner, ranks ninth in career blocks and still holds the Auburn career rebounding record.
Her jersey will join the ranks of Carolyn Jones (No. 21), Ruthie Bolton (No. 25) and Vicki Orr (No. 50) in the north end zone of Auburn Arena.
For tickets to the game, visit AUBTIX.com or call 1-855-AUB-2010. The Alabama game will also serve as the annual "Pink Zone" game to increase breast cancer awareness and all fans are encouraged to wear pink. The first 500 fans will receive a pink t-shirt from Verizon and the first 1,000 fans will receive a pink shaker. A limited amount of pink t-shirts will be available for purchase at the Auburn Team Shop in Auburn Arena on the day of the game with all proceeds going to the East Alabama Medical Center Breast Cancer Fund.
