Birmingham, Ala. - Auburn sophomore DeWanna Bonner (Fairfield, Ala.) was named SEC Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 16.5 points and 10.0 rebounds at the Miami Holiday Tournament.

Bonner was named MVP of the Miami Holiday Tournament after leading Auburn to the team title and improving the Tigers record to 13-3 overall and extending the win streak to four. She led the Tigers in both games on both sides of the ball, and averaged a double-double for the two-game series.

Against James Madison, Bonner put up 21 points and 10 rebounds, including 13-of-15 shooting from the free throw line. Her 13 made free throws tied the Auburn single game record (held since 1990 by Carolyn Jones). The following night Bonner put up 12 points and 10 rebounds to capture her seventh double-double of the season and 11th in her career. It also marked her fifth double-double in the last six games.

The MVP honor is Bonner's second of the season as she earned the award at the Nugget Classic where Auburn also took the team title. Bonner is the first player this season to earn a SEC weekly award. Last season, Bonner was named SEC Freshman of the Week and went on to earn a spot on the SEC All-Freshman team.

Auburn opens SEC play and the New Year on Jan. 4 against Ole Miss. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. at the BEMC and will be broadcast live on Fox Sports Net.
