Recap |  Final Stats |  Notes

AUBURN HEAD COACH Nell Fortner
On the game...
"This was a good win for us. There have been times before when we haven't pulled through in the close games, but today we were able to hand in there and that was the most important thing. We'll take it."

On ULL's 17-2 run on the Tigers...
"Well, that was a flashback to the Xavier game. We panicked. We had quick shots that did not fall, and we became unsure of ourselves. However, they hung in there and won the game and that is the important thing."

On the zone defense...
"Well, we haven't worked on that for a few weeks because we have been focusing on man-to-man. We are a little rusty, but I don't think we did badly. We had shots, they just weren't falling for us."

On Nitasha Brown...
"She kept us in the game in the first half. We weren't knocking down shots. When you miss good shots that takes away your confidence, but she made hers and kept us in there."

On KeKe Carrier...
"The shot she made in the end of the game was huge. They were playing her high side, so I told our girls that we had to get her the ball. We did, and she got fouled on one and then she made the second. We want her to continue to progress so that by the time we get to the SEC Tournament, she will be a force on our team."

On the upcoming road schedule...
"We have got Furman and then we travel to the San Diego Surf and Turf Tournament. This is a good time for team bonding, and these next three games should get us ready for our SEC opener."

SENIOR CENTER Marita Payne
On a close game...
"It brings back old memories of past games when we had a good lead and then we let them come back. I think we get complacent and fatigued. We need to realize that teams are not going to sit back and let us beat them by 30 points. We have to play the whole game."

On the upcoming SEC schedule...
"I can't wait until we start our SEC games because they don't have little post players. A lot of the teams that we have been playing have smaller posts, and even though the posts in the SEC are huge, I enjoy the challenge."

SENIOR GUARD Nitasha Brown
On making shots early in the game...
"Our plan is always to come out aggressively, so today I really focused on doing that and making my shots."

On team leadership...
"We always try to speak up in the huddle, especially in a tight game, but we also want to step up on the court. Today we wanted to be confident and make a defensive stop."

LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE HEAD COACH J. KELLEY HALL
On the game...
"During the first half, our tempo was where we wanted it. I think we played a good first half against an SEC team on the road. We went in at the half down 32-28, which we felt good about because we hadn't given up too many points. We needed to shoot better in the second half. The first eight minutes of the second half was the turning point of the game. Anytime you shoot only 31 percent from the floor on the road, it makes it tough to win."

On his team getting tired in the second half...
"We had two girls involved in a car wreck, and we have an ACL injury so we don't have a lot of depth. We need to develop more depth or it will hurt us down the road."

On the play of Auburn's Nitasha Brown...
"I knew she was capable, but I didn't expect for her to look for the shots as much as she did. It looks like Auburn watched film of us and decided to try to attack us at the high post areas, but we didn't expect Brown to look for her shots as much as she did."

On Auburn...
"Auburn is very big for a team like us. They have a lot of athleticism and are going to be a good team down the road. Coach Fortner has done a good job recruiting for size. I really like the make up of the team. They're going to be special in the next few years, and they're getting good experience now."
