Auburn Head Coach Nell Fortner

Opening statement...
"That was our best first half of the season. I thought we played well for 20 minutes and did a good job of taking Jackson State out of anything that they were wanting to do. I thought that our zone was very effective. We came out and the team did exactly what I asked them to do. I am very proud of them for that. They were very focused and very active."

On Auburn's half court trap...
"That has been a really good defense for us, that half-court and 1-2-2 trap and zone. It has been very effective, and I think we are getting very comfortable with it right now. It's hard to score against. We have good quickness and long arms. We have been able to frustrate opponents, and we did today."

On Auburn's lineup...
"We have had some sicknesses this week. I thought our starting lineup was very effective today. It still gives you the ability to look at different things. We had great energy. The five players coming off the bench did a good job of getting after it and creating some things. I don't know if that is where we will continue to head, but you never know."

Guard DeWanna Bonner

On Auburn's win...
"I think it has to do with our size. We had a lot of height over them. They couldn't see the basket that well because we were a lot taller. In the second half, we came out and pushed the ball, and they didn't know what to expect."

Guard Whitney Boddie

On the height difference...
"Their average player was around my height. KeKe (Carrier) is huge, and in every game you want to get the ball inside. She can dominate, especially against teams like we played tonight. We wanted to take advantage of the mismatch. Getting KeKe the ball was definitely one of our strategies."

On her nine assists...
"I think Trevesha (Jackson) did a really good job of running the floor and Joanna (Clayden) was knocking down shots. I think as a team we did a good job of shooting the ball. We took good shots and that helps me with my stats.

Jackson State Coach Denise Taylor

On Auburn's size...
"Their size played a factor in who won this game for sure."

On the game...
"We really didn't come ready to play. We just got off the road from playing Miami (FL), a team with comparable talent to Auburn. We just didn't come ready to play this game at all. You have to give Auburn credit they are a tough team to match up against. They have a big 6-7 kid in the middle taking up a lot of space, and it's hard to defend that. They made shots and we didn't. They have a really good team and they should be competitive in their league. They have some good young players.

Jackson State Guard Shelita Burns

On her scoring...
"I was pretty rough in the first half, but in the second half I did OK. I had to adjust my shot in the second half due to their size.

On their size...
"It was probably the biggest factor, that and the fact that they have excellent jumping ability as well. Auburn is a very strong team."

On Jackson State's defense...
"There was one point (in the game) that we fell off, but we realized that we needed to pick it back up to get into the game."
