Auburn head coach Nell Fortner
On the overall team performance...
"I thought we had some good offensive efforts from several players. When you do things like break the school scoring record and have a player with a triple-double, those are things that don't come easy. I don't care who you're playing. I was pleased with those two facts. I thought it was a good overall effort. Our bench got a lot of good minutes and they needed it."

On setting the school record in scoring...
"I didn't even know what the school record was in points, so it's not like we go out and try to do that. We just were scoring the ball well. We shot the ball well and that's what happens in 40 minutes when you shoot the ball well."

On having seven players in double figures...
"We had great minutes for our starters and great minutes for our bench. We were just feeling it tonight. I thought Whitney [Boddie] really had a good overall game and people feed off of her. I think she got is started on a good note."

Whitney Boddie, Guard
On her triple-double...
"At half-time, Coach Fortner and the rest of the team gave me a challenge. I really wasn't thinking about it, but they were like, `Get in there and get some rebounds."

On the team's performance...
"Our whole goal was to come out and jump on a team quick, regardless. Coach Fortner always talks about that and that is what we did. We were just trying to keep improving and establishing ourselves."

Auburn's DeWanna Bonner, Guard/Forward
On the record setting points by a team in a game...
"That's a big honor. We didn't even know that until after the game. We just came out and pushed the ball. Every time we pushed the ball; we got some good looks. We took some smart shots, we were focused and we were knocking some shots down. It is a great honor and we're excited about it."

On her cracking the top ten in steals for a career...
"That's good. I am trying to step it up more on defense, so it is a great honor."

Sam Houston State head coach Brenda Welch-Nichols
On tonight's game...
"We have a lot young players. We have seven freshmen and this game was a great builder for us. They got to play against a very good team and I have a lot of respect for Auburn. Our biggest games right now are conference play and that's to get to the conference tournament. I think when we get to our area and in our conference, we're going to do well.

"When you're playing with seven freshmen, the only good thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores next year, and I just have to keep waiting. I'm proud of my girls, and they didn't ever give up and kept fighting. They could've laid down and I give it to my team for battling hard."
