Coach Nell Fortner
"When a team comes and you should probably win the game, you might prepare your team a little bit harder than you will for other games, because you don't want to lose your focus. You don't want them to go out and play sloppy. They take their lead from the coach and they were focused. You can't take anybody for granted. We worked hard to get where we are now. I'm not in the market to backslide. I was pleased with the effort tonight."
On deserving the high ranking...
"It is a ranking that we have worked hard for. We've earned it. It didn't drop in our lap, we want to make sure we keep it and keep moving up. We are proud of it because it is something that has taken a lot of hard work to get. We don't plan on letting go of it easily."
On Ruth Ketcham's game...
"It's been a long time since I've seen a shooting performance like that. I think she was five for five before she missed a shot. It was fun to see that. It was neat for everybody, because everybody enjoyed it, not just Ruth-the whole staff, the whole team and everybody. It was her night and I'm pleased for her."
On relaxing after the tough Ohio State tournament...
Alli Smalley, Freshman Guard
On playing time...
"I don't know if relaxing is the word. It is a ballgame. We treat every ballgame the same when we prepare. It has been a pretty tough two weeks for us, but they have been fun. To get everybody playing time is probably the best thing about it. Everybody got some good playing time and we need that. Kids need playing time and experience. We have about 10 days before our next game, so we have to really balance between exams and practice time and make sure we don't fall off. We are going into Texas A&M and they are ranked above us. It is going to be a tough environment; they haven't lost in two years. That's my old mentor, Gary Blair, who got me into coaching. I'm looking forward to getting back over there and playing him."
"The bench players got a lot of playing time tonight. Coach Fortner always talks about how you have to take advantage of your minutes. We got out there and did that."
Ruth Ketcham, Freshman Guard
On scoring 26 points...
"It was fun, I really enjoyed it. I don't get a lot of time and in this game the bench players got a lot of playing time. Coach Fortner always tells us that when we get to come we need to play hard and take advantage of the minutes we get, and that's what I did.
I was just feeling it out there. Once the first couple dropped they just kept dropping all night. This puts a little pressure on me to perform like this again, but I kind of like that.
Head Coach Pam Bass
"Our goal today was to come out here and get some great experience before going into Patriot League play. Before this week, the staff and I went over the scouting reports for our league. It helped us decide on the things we wanted to work on for this game so we could get great value out of it before league play. We definitely had a chance to do that, and I was happy with the rebounding numbers from our program. I think you could see we were chipping away a little bit at a time, but you have to give credit to Auburn with where they're going and how they're preparing for SEC play. You have to respect that."
On making improvements for the second half...
"During half time, we actually worked on ball pressure in the locker room to help us understand what we needed to do and where to get our hands up. We also calmed down the team, got them focused and told the offense where we were looking to attack more. We wanted to give them the confidence to go full speed ahead."
Krista Moser, freshman forward
On tough games preparing Colgate for conference play...
"Auburn plays a lot of good competition. They are probably one of the toughest teams we are going to face all year. They helped us get ready for the Patriot League. They are crashing on the board and they play intense the whole game. You see that in the Patriot League, but you obviously see that more from Auburn."
