Postgame Quotes

Auburn head coach Terri Williams-Flournoy

Opening statement…

“We knew that this was a game where we wanted our defense to score right away. Once we picked up our defense, we were able to turn them over and turn those turnovers into points.”

On the amount of turnovers forced…

“Overall, I thought the defense was pretty good. We started off slow, but once we started going, we did a very good job.”

On transition offense…

“We had 18 fast-break points and 31 points off of those turnovers. That’s really what we want. We don’t want to turn the ball over, we want to actually be able to score.”

On how the offense is improving…

“It’s about the execution of the offense. We actually had to slow down a little bit. We were moving too fast and not setting good screens. We weren’t making reads on the defense. We were pretty much running around out there. I thought we slowed down, we spread the floor, got the ball inside, executed and hit some shots.”

Janiah McKay, G, Jr.

On the defense’s performance…

“I think the defense was pretty good. As coach said, we started a little slow, but once we got in our rhythm, we were able to score the basketball, and once that gets going, we feel more comfortable scoring in transition.”

On being back at home…

“Yes, it is always comfortable playing at home. But, obviously, our goal is to get the key road wins that we need because those are the ones that seriously help us for the NCAA Tournament. We just have to keep winning.”

Daisa Alexander, G, So.

On playing at home ...

“I like the fans. They get us hyped and get us to do what we need to do.”

ULM head coach Jeff Dow

On tonight’s game ...

"Well, obviously, we knew going into the game taking care of the ball against their pressure was going to be huge. Clearly we didn’t do a good job of doing that. I think we had 20 turnovers in the first half. Basically the difference in the game, the margin, was points off turnovers. They outscored us 31-5, and ironically enough, they beat us by 26 points. I thought after an obviously horrible second quarter, we bounced back a little bit and played more competitive in the second half. Their length and speed clearly bothered us all night and just took us completely out of rhythm offensively."
