Auburn Head Coach Nell Fortner

Opening statement...
"Obviously it was a tale of two halves. I'm not sure we could have played much worse in the first half, and I thought we did some really nice things in the second half. We had some players really step up. They were challenged, and they met the challenge. When you're starting a freshman in Hasina Muhammad, she's going to do things that freshmen do, and that is not always be ready to play, not always take care of the ball good enough. But in the second half, she really came through for us big time, and I think she showed us what she's capable of being all the time and what we want her to be all the time. Blanche Alverson, just a veteran player. She had ice in her veins tonight in the second half, just knocked down some really big important shots, so that was good, and obviously, we hit our free throws in the second half, which we didn't do in the first half."

On what she said to the team at halftime...
"Well it wasn't anything terrible or anything like that, I just challenged them. To me, the first half was embarrassing. Our play was not good, our free throw shooting was awful, we weren't going to the offensive boards. It was just like `Who is this team?' They responded. I don't have any complaint about that."

On the team's poise in keeping things together despite its play in the first half...
"Our poise was better, and it was much better than it was at Duke. There were times that we could have run rampant, so that's something that we're working on, and I thought tonight M.J. (Morgan Jennings) was a good floor leader and got the ball where it needed to go. But, I also liked the lineup we started in the second half. We went with the defensive lineup, and they sparked us. We went on that 6-0 run, and that kind of turned the tide for us a little bit. I was really pleased with that group."

Blanche Alverson, Jr., F.

On the overall play of the first half...
"We came out and played a little sloppy in the first half. We were unfocused and not disciplined, and that's something Coach Fortner really emphasized at half time. We needed to come out more focused and give a lot more energy in the second half."

On the second half ...
"I think that the first group that came out at the half had a lot of defense, and that's what got our offense going. First half we were struggling pretty badly. We were not creating anything defensively first half and I think that is what the difference in the game was."

Tyrese Tanner, So., G/F.

On the half time talk...
"We got fussed at pretty bad. She told us that we could not just sit at the baselines, and just like Blanche said, we were not very disciplined for the first half."

George Washington Head Coach Mike Bozeman

Opening statement...
"I thought that in the first half we had the tempo that favored us. For the entire game our team played hard. I just thought that the adjustment they made going to small ball, they were trying to get more penetration, and we did not adjust well. I thought that that was the key of the second half. Auburn tried to get into the paint more, that was their focal point and we did not adjust well."

On Auburn's Defense ...
"The crucial part was Sara Mostafa getting into foul trouble and having to sit that long in the first half and it kind of cooled her off. This is a SEC school there was never going to be any quit in them, I saw them against Duke and that was a hard-fought game that Duke stretched out at the end."

On Auburn's halftime adjustments...
"Auburn is well coached; I knew that they were going to come out with some sort of an adjustment in the second half. I really felt like their adjustment favored us, we just did not execute our scout plan when they went small ball which is what I anticipated them doing, but again she's a great coach and those players played hard. You have to give them credit they defended their home court and did a heck of a job."

Sara Mostafa, Sr., C

On the game and the whole team's effort...
"I think we came out really strong in the first half. We were playing together as a team and felt we had the scout down pat. We knew exactly what they were going to do, we were ready and in the second half we didn't come out as strong as we needed to and they hit a lot of their open shots. As for our our zone defense, we weren't covering what we needed but continued hustling offense but it wasn't enough."

On the second half turnaround...
"The biggest difference was them hitting their open shots."

On her individual play...
"In the first half, I thought I was getting all the shots I wanted. In the second half they focused on me and not letting me get deep in the paint and I didn't get as many shots off. I didn't get what I wanted and it turned into a battle."
