Auburn Head Coach Nell Fortner
On the game...
"Texas A&M is an excellent team and I thought they exploited us. They turned our turnovers into points for them. We have a lot of work to do and it is disappointing to lose, but we are not discouraged. We just have to get better."

On Texas A&M helping Auburn get ready for SEC play...
"We are not the team we are going to be in a month and a half. We are going to get better and this is a game that you have to go back and learn a lot from. Our defense has to improve and we have to find more ways to score. We will do that."

On having a lot inexperienced players...
"They got some great experience and that is a positive thing. We can't complain about that and we're just going to have to get through some tough times while they learn and grow up a little bit. I like this team and I like how they work. I like how we fought to the end and it will serve us well eventually."

Auburn player quotes

Guard Alli Smalley
On rebounding from the first loss in 16 games...
"We have played a top-10 team so we kind of expected a tough, hard-fought game out of that. We just have to continue to improve on the offensive and defensive ends and keep our heads up because we have another game Tuesday night."

On Texas A&M and your play in general...
"They are a great defensive team. They are a good measuring stick for us because they are one of the top teams in the country. They are someone that we can model after and that is our goal - to get up there. We just need to work on specific things like free throws and limiting turnovers. Those are all things that we are capable of controlling."

On a team like Texas A&M helping them get to the top...
"You have to play teams that are at the top to get to the top. We have to build from this and continue to keep our heads up and continue to improve and get better."

Center KeKe Carrier
Thoughts on the young team and new faces...
"It is a disappointing loss. We have to keep our heads up, focus, and stay in the game. We have to get ready for the next game even though we lost."

Texas A&M Head Coach Gary Blair

Opening Statement...
"This is just my second win ever here at Auburn. When I coached at Arkansas and came over here, I was not very successful. I respect Coach Fortner on what she is doing with her program. She is a little bit younger than we are as a team. We both graduated a whole bunch of starters from last year but I had more coming back than she did. She has been forced to play her young people more often than I have had to. The little point guard (Toles) is going to be good for her. You start looking at Smalley a couple years ago when they played in College Station, she had one rebound in three minutes. She turned herself into an All- SEC performer. She is a great catch-and-shoot shooter. She got loose for a few points there but she didn't hit her season average. She got tired chasing around a lot of screens. "

On Auburn's rebounding...
"We got beat on the boards today but a lot of teams are going to get beat on the boards by Auburn."

On KeKe Carrier...
"Carrier is a force. We beat them a lot in transition before she was able to get back on defense."

Texas A&M Players

Forward Danielle Adams
On the game and her performance...
"Our plan was to beat KeKe Carrier down the court in transition and so we tried our best to get up and down the court. I did what I had to do and coach told me to step out a couple of times and hit my shots."

On the team's rebounding efforts...
"I thought we did perfect as a team. My rebounding was good, but we did awesome as a team. I'm really happy with how the team performed overall today."

Guard Tanisha Smith
On the game overall and her performance...
"I think I had spots where I defended real well. My offensive game wasn't really there tonight so that is why I tried to step with steals, rebounds and stuff like that. Overall, as a team, I think it was a big win for us being on the road. We have a young team and this is their first time on the road this year. I think it was a great win early on in the season."

On her defensive performance...
"It was tiring but at the end of the day, we got the win. I work hard for my coach and my teammates. This is a big win, especially because it was on the road. We just want to teach the young ones how to execute and that is what playing on the road is all about."

On her steals...
"The key was to not let Alli Smalley shoot the ball. She got some shots in, but we forced her to shoot and she didn't shoot well. I think that was the key because she had six turnovers. We just wanted to stop her and the team."
