Auburn Head Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy

On improving closing up the traps on defense...
"I thought we did a better job. There's still a few people who aren't closing up the traps the way we need to. Our defense moves on a string, and when one string gets cut, it messes up the whole defensive alignment that we're trying to get everybody to move in. It's just the little stuff like that we have to continue to get better."

On the offensive production today...
"I thought they came out, and we shot the ball extremely well. What we wanted to do today was not just stand out there and launch 3's. We only took six 3's. Our percentage from the 3-point line was absolutely horrible, so we wanted to get in a little closer and attack the basket a little bit more, and I thought we did a better job today of executing our offense and getting the best shot. Not just the first shot, but getting the best shot which increases your percentage."

On areas of improvement...
"There are always areas of improvement. I still think we need to work a little harder on closing up our traps and letting people out of our traps. Our defense still needs a little bit of work, so there's always stuff to work on."

Blanche Alverson, Sr., F

On the game...
"I think we came out and started out pretty slow on defense, but we picked it up towards the end and really wanted to cut down on how many points they scored in the second half. That was a big goal of ours. The defensive intensity was our goal today."

On the offensive production...
"I think this year the team chemistry is great. That proves that we all look for each other. No one is a selfish player."

On defensive...
"Defense is definitely what we're going to rely on this year to win most of our games, so it was very important for us to come up and keep improving on our defensive press and half court."

Alabama A&M Head Coach Altherias Warmley

On today's game...
"I thought Auburn did a great job. We were not able to overcome their size and length. There were times where we were able to break the press and get some good looks. It is tough when you are 5'3 and 5'4 and you've got a 6-foot defender out on the perimeter and 6'5 forwards down low."

On the difficulty of facing Auburn's press...
"Well when we are not able to score and give them easy baskets from turnovers, that is a big disadvantage. We just didn't handle that size very well."

On what they can learn from this game...
"Against the bigger teams, you have to attack the basket. I don't think we got to the foul line enough today. We didn't do anything to have them pull their press off. When you have a team that presses and falls back into a zone, you have to shoot them out of it. We didn't shoot well enough. We are going to learn a lot from this. We have to defend harder and be more determined to stop things that other teams are doing."
