Auburn head coach Nell Fortner
Opening statement...

"I don't know why I was as nervous as I was, because they definitely came out and took care of business. I have to give credit to Arkansas head coach Tom Collen. He has done an excellent job and Arkansas was able to defend our screen very well."

On stopping Ceira Ricketts...

"I thought we were able to take her out of the game and took her out of any kind of offensive rhythm. We were just very focused and on it today."

On the offensive game plan...

"I thought we did a good job getting it inside. KeKe Carrier came to play today. I thought everybody did a great job today. Whitney Boddie stayed really focused on trying to get the ball inside. I am a little overwhelmed right now."

On the attendance...

"The fans were great and they really stayed in it. I appreciate that always."

On Alli Smalley's defense...

"She did a great job today. We had to have great defense on the help side, because we knew they were going to penetrate the ball. We had to have great focus on that."

On turnovers...

"We had a great day of turnovers. We finished with six. We took care of the ball very well."

On going into the half with 54 points...

"Even though we were up by 20, we knew that the game was not over because Arkansas is so great at the three-point line. The worst thing we could have done was think that it was over, act like it was over and play like it was over when it really isn't. We didn't want that to happen."

On second half performance...

"We stayed very honest defensively in the second half."

On being able to take starters/seniors out of the game...

"That was fun. The seniors really deserved that. They are the ones that got this program where it is. I wanted them to be able to soak it up and enjoy it all they could."

Opening Statement...

"Needless to say I am just thrilled for this team and this program to win an SEC Championship. It is absolutely what our goal has been since we took this job, and then to win a championship and have the opportunity to compete for a national championship--that is what we are on our way to do. I am just really proud of the team and the effort today. I thought we did an outstanding job. I thought we guarded everything that Arkansas threw at us and I feel really good about that."

On 54 points and no turnovers in the first half...

"I mean, I don't know. I can't explain that, but when you don't turn the ball over, you have an opportunity to score that many points. That was just some really good basketball and I thought we were very focused and very disciplined with what we were doing. It's the way you want to be playing at this point in the season, so I am very proud of the team."

On the predictions for the game performance against Arkansas...

"No, I didn't see that one coming because they we the hottest team in the league. There is no doubt about it and I think we had a very good game plan. I thought we were solid with that and we executed it and that was the most important thing. We took them out of their offensive rhythm and I thought that was the difference in the game because they could score a lot of points. We could score a lot of points. They could get that three ball and guard it, so we were very focused with that today."

On the emotions with the senior class...

"The most emotional thing to me today was the last timeout under the four-minute mark at the end of the game, because I was sitting there looking at all of them. It was very emotional and they are just so funny. I think that is when it really became overwhelming to me with exactly what was going on. We were going to win this game and these seniors are going out having done that. It was just really neat to know that they accomplished what we set out to accomplish in one arena and now it is onto the next.

"They mean a heck of a lot to me. They came in here with a brand new staff and got to know us and came to Auwere telling them. That was the biggest thing and I will always be grateful to them for that and getting this program back where it needs to be."

Auburn Player Quotes
Trevesha Jackson, F
Thoughts on winning the SEC title...

"We came to work and everybody was focused. Coach (Fortner) told us in the locker room, `one game and done'. That's all we have to look for the rest of the season."

Thoughts on the team's performance...

"We went out and executed. Everybody played their role."

Thoughts on your last game as a senior...

"It means a lot. We got to go out with a big bang. I'm ready for a ring my last year."

Whitney Boddie, G
On how it feels to win SEC Championship...

"It's the best thing ever. It's a great feeling. I'm speechless right now, words can't describe it. It's great, but we're not content to win it all right now. I'm glad we won. We want to win the National Championship. I would be glad to get a ring."

DeWanna Bonner, F
On winning the SEC championship...

"I'm so happy right now. I'm so proud of our team and our coaches. We worked so hard for it and I'm just so glad with the way we came out tonight and played."

On the Arkansas game performance...

"Arkansas has been playing very well. They've been having a winning streak and we knew we had to come out here tough. We were already excited with everything going on, so we just came out here and played great."

On getting this far in your senior year...

"I knew we were going to be something special, but who knew we were going to win the SEC. Every team is great every night. I am so proud of our seniors and I'm glad our team made it this far. I plan on Auburn winning it again next year."

Sherell Hobbs, G
On taking the SEC Championship...

"It feels great to win the SEC Championship. That was our goal and that what we got accomplished today."

On that match up against Arkansas...

"Actually, they are a good team. They are getting better. I didn't expect us to beat them as much as we did, but then again it's senior day, so you can expect anything on a day like this."

On the senior team...

"It feels great because I feel like I accomplished something here at Auburn. That is what I came to do and that is what I did on this day. It feels absolutely great."

Arkansas head coach Tom Collen
On struggles during entire game...

"It was as rough day right from the beginning. I think Auburn had 11 assists and zero turnovers in the first half, so they played near perfection. Hats off to them. They're the SEC Champs. They deserve to be. They're the best team in our conference right now and you've got to give them all the credit in the world."

On seniors playing their last game for Arkansas...

"Well, Whitney [Jones] came to play. She was the one bright spot for us and I think that's a good sign. When we compete in the SEC Tournament, we'll obviously need her. We've obviously got to get our other team ready to be able to compete down there, but we've just got to find a way to put this behind us.

"I just think we ran into a buzz saw. We can't get down on ourselves. We've got to find a positive. One positive I think our team needs to hear about, four years ago, when we played Auburn, this team was awful.
Now, they've got a packed house and they've got an SEC Championship. Our kids, I'm glad they're here to witness this, so they understand what it takes and that they can't get there if they don't go back and work."
