On the halftime speech…
“You know how when you get in trouble and you have to go home and hear what your mom is going to say. That’s the conversation they got. I was more frustrated and mad at them because they weren’t playing hard. They had no idea of the opportunity that was right in front of them. In the first game we went up there and beat Alabama so bad, it’s hard to get that out of their mind. They are thinking that we will be ok, and we are trying to tell them it’s not the same Alabama team. They are playing so much better, but as you can see they did not listen.”

On Tyrese Tanner’s preformance…
“She was incredible in the run in the second half. She becomes focused, she is trying to get everyone around her together as well as getting herself together. She is just a phenomenal player. When it comes down to crunch time she wants to take that shot, she wants that play, she wants to be that go-to player.  In order to be that leader you have to round up your troops. That’s one thing she really did a good job of, making sure everyone else was focused. Even when she fouled out, after I met with them she met with them next. That’s the definition of a leader.”

On Hasina Muhammad’s shot to put Auburn ahead…
“It’s not the shot we imagined. The play was designed for her to come up the middle, it was an isolation play. Brandy was in the corner so they weren’t going to come off of her. We really wanted her to catch it and rip through, she hesitated but then she finally went. That was a great shot for Hasina, she really needed that. She has started to feel better the last couple games. Cindy our trainer has done a great job of getting her back ready. Hasina just really needed that type of shot to help her get over that hump.”

On Brandy Montgomery and Meagan Tuckers performance…
“I thought our freshmen did a great job. We call them freshmen even though at this point they are sophomores with the minutes they have played.  I think Brandy has played the most minutes out of anyone on the team. I thought Brandy and Megan hit some huge free-throws at the end there.

On Meagan Tucker and Kiani Parker rotating…
“Meagan seems to settle the team a little bit more. She understands the offense a little bit more, not that Kiani doesn’t. But back to what we have said Meagan is a true point guard, Kiani we kind of inserted her into the point guard lineup, but she is one of our best defenders so we try to alternate them when we can.”

On the comeback…
“It’s huge. As mad as I want to be at them for getting down, I can give them nothing but credit for fighting hard to get back in and win the game. Seventeen points in incredible, it’s crazy. I don’t know if I have ever been down that much. I think this year down 13 to Mississippi State was the biggest deficit we have come back from. Once again its credit to our kids, we were down but there was a lot of time left. We tried to tell our kids to stay calm and focused. We told them we just have to make a stop it’s not going to happen boom boom boom, we have to make a stop then go down and make a basket.

On second half turnaround…
“At halftime they were beating us in every single category. There was not a single category that we were leading in and that’s just unacceptable. In the first half we were getting out-hustled, out-]played. They were playing like they wanted it more than us and at this point of the season no one should play like they want it more than we do.”

On her game winning jumper…
“I knew the play. It was for me and I don’t know, my adrenaline was pumping and I wanted to win so bad. I just went for it and I did what I do best, mid-range jumpers.”

On Brandy Montgomery’s free throws…
“I’m really proud of the way she matured. She wasn’t fidgety like she used to be. She’s really calmed down and plays the game. She looked really good. I was really proud of how she knocked down those free throws to seal the game.”

On Tanner’s second half run…
“I just see extreme leadership and when she does it pulls everyone else along. It makes everyone else want to work harder to match her intensity and it just makes the game fun.”

On being down by 17…
“We went into halftime and regrouped and it all came together this half and the two overtimes. I think we did a great job coming back from 17 points. We stayed with them and came out with a win.”

On her scoring…
“We knew we had to keep attacking. If we couldn’t get inside we gave it to our shooters on the outside in Katie (Frerking) and Brandy (Montgomery) and they did a great job of that this game, knocking three’s down. It came down to making our free throws.”

On Montgomery’s free throws…
“Since we’re so far into the season, she’s not a freshman anymore. She has a few games under her belt and she’s done a great job these past couple of games. She’s really stepped it up defensively and last game with 21 points and this one 17. We need that from her every game.”

On what she said to the team after fouling out…
“I said to just keep on fighting and don’t give up. Just because I’m sitting out doesn’t mean the world is going to end, we have other scorers on the floor. I just told them to attack the basket, handle turnovers and not have any more fouls.”

On halftime…
“We just got a good talking to. It’s my last year and you have to come out and play hard every chance you get. You can’t come out in a mood. You have to shake everything off and play.”

On seeing others step up and score…
“I was just proud. I’m glad im playing with these girls in my last year at Auburn. We just play together and when we’re all on the same page we win games. Just seeing that they stepped up is big. They have that potential always.

Alabama head coach Kristy Curry

 On tonight’s game…
“Give Terri and her kids a lot of credit down the stretch. They were fortunate to make a couple plays that we weren’t. What a great game. It’s tough for anybody to lose, but credit both teams for a great effort tonight.”

On giving up a 17-point lead…
“It’s tough to lose whether you are down one point or up by 10. Give our kids credit for being up by 17 points. It’s a game of runs, and it’s a game of mistakes. I think it was more of a game of missed baskets. You can’t miss nine free throws and win games in this league. Credit Auburn. Credit Terri and her kids. She had a senior really step up tonight and made great plays. There’s only one senior on our bench. A lot of credit to Tyrese Tanner. She was outstanding down the stretch. It’s why it is a 40-minute game.”

On second half changes…
“I don’t think anything changed. You got to continue to make plays. You guys are focused on a 17-point lead. We are focused on making plays. You don’t play the score. You focus on making the next play whether it’s a defense stop, a box out or to go make a basket. Credit those guys. They were able to make a few more plays down the stretch.”

On being outrebounding in the second half…
“Obviously, we give up size at every position. Just credit Auburn. They got some rebounds the second half. We got them the first half. It was a tale of two halves on the rebounding side of things.”

On improvement since first meeting with Auburn…
“We are just a much improved basketball team. These kids have done everything we’ve asked them to do. We just continue to grow and get better. We’ve gotten better every day whether it has been a win or a loss along the way. These kids have had their heart in the right place. The progress we are making forward is unbelievable, so it is a process right now.”
