Auburn Quotes

Head Coach Nell Fortner

Opening statement...
"We won the second half, that's one positive. It's going to be hard for us to win when we don't get production out of all five players on the court. I thought that LSU's defense was outstanding. They're extremely quick, and their lateral movement is as good as we've seen all year long. Then you have Sylvia Fowles who is an unbelievable player. There is no good match up for her even with two people guarding her. We just didn't get enough production offensively from people we normally get production from."

On Auburn's SEC record...
"I was hoping we would be 2-2. You hope to steal one here or there, but win the one's your supposed to win. But to put it in perspective, in our first four SEC games we played three teams ranked in the top ten, so I think we've been pretty successful."

DeWanna Bonner, Junior Guard

On Sylvia Fowles' performance...
"She is a great player, she is an All-American. I think Cassie Moore and Jordan Greenleaf held their own, but she's just a good player."

On her low scoring game...
"I was just playing a little tentative, I didn't attack the basket. I wasn't aggressive enough. I think I did pretty good on defense, I have to play better offensively. It is disappointing; I know I have to step up to get ready for Alabama this weekend."

Sherell Hobbs, Junior Guard

On LSU's early lead...
"It did set the tone of the game. Our plan was to set the tone, but obviously they did and that hurt us. We have to come back from this and get ready for Alabama."

On LSU's defense...
"LSU is known for being a defensive team. I think we expected them to pressure us so hard like they did last year, but I didn't think their pressure was as good this year. We expected them to pressure us harder and they made us play a little tentative."

LSU Quotes

Head coach Van Chancellor

On Sylvia Fowle's performance...
"This is a pretty good player right here, and her double-double tonight was impressive. She is within eight now of the all-time SEC record. I thought she was pretty good tonight, I thought we played as good as we are going to play tonight."

On LSU's offense...
"Our offense was really good. When you shoot 54, 61, and 73 (field goal percentage, three point percentage, free throw percentage). You have a good shot to win"

On LSU's momentum...
"It's been amazing. We've been to Mississippi State, Arkansas and Auburn now. Usually you do this when you're at home. We have made some starts that have been unbelievable. Our intensity lately has been unbelievable."

On guarding DeWanna Bonner...
"We didn't want to put Quianna Chaney on her, and then we put Ashley Thomas in there and she did a great job. We thought if she got started she would have emotionally pumped them up. She's a player that concerns you, she's just to good of a player."

On Auburn's performance...
"I thought Auburn did a great job of playing extremely well in the second half after being down. I thought Sherell Hobbs and Alli Smalley were pretty good in the second half. I give them credit for not folding."

Sylvia Fowles, senior forward

On LSU's quick start...
"We started out with a lot of momentum, and that's how we got things going, we just tried not to get behind. We tried to get a lead because we know what Auburn is capable of. We just tried to come out, stay focus, and make shots. We got things done."
