HEAD COACH Nell Fortner

"We just aren't shooting very well right now. I am proud of them for keeping their confidence. As a coach, you can't harp at the players on their shooting because that will get into their heads. We played good defense, but we couldn't keep them off of the boards when we needed to."

On KeKe Carrier...
"I would love to play her more. She makes an impact even when she doesn't touch the ball because you have to guard her no matter what. She just isn't fit enough and has to come to terms with that."

On youth of team...
"We have to deal with the youth of this team. It would be different if they weren't trying, but they are and they are giving all they have. At the end of the game, everyone was trying to make the play. The balls weren't falling. We knew last year that we would have six newcomers and that is tough. They are playing at a whole different level. They are getting experience. That will pay off for us maybe at the end of February, during tournament play, or even next year. Nothing takes the place of gaining experience."

On Armintie Price...
"I thought that we defended her well. They killed us on the offensive boards though."

SENIOR Marita Payne
On last minutes of game...
"We got into a panic situation and we didn't execute the way that we should have."

On KeKe Carrier...
"We need to get KeKe out there more. When she is out there, she is an unstoppable force. She is still trying to find her fitness."

On getting out rebounded...
"We try to help out in other places and the ball would go a different way. We get out of position, and that happens a lot. That has been a problem with us all season. We practice on it all of the time, but it was still a problem for us today."

SENIOR Nitasha Brown
On the game...
"Their trapping just confused our offense. We didn't penetrate like we should've."

On frustration...
"It is not necessarily frustration. It makes us eager and hungry to win. It drives us to work harder at practice.."

On the first half...
"As a team, we didn't shoot well. I didn't shoot well either. Sometimes you are on and other days you aren't. My shot felt good and the ball felt good in my hands."

HEAD COACH CAROL ROSS
On the game...
"I'm very proud of our team. They came out and played hard. I'm very glad to get a conference win and be validated."

On not letting the game get away...
"We got up early, but this is SEC basketball. You don't run people out of the gym in this league. Auburn answered us, but we were able to finish the game out. We had the will to win the game, and we weren't going to let it get away. I couldn't be prouder of our team. They hung together, played hard and I'm proud of them.

On senior guard Ashley Johnson...
"She's been struggling lately. She knows we need her to shoot the ball well, and her teammates told her that too. She helped get us off to a good start. I think she got her confidence back today."

On sophomore forward Jada Mincy's 11 rebounds...
"We're a great rebounding team. In our last two games we've struggled at what we do best. There's nobody I'd rather have there to rebound than Jada Mincy. She's tough, she's mean and she's not going to give up. In our last three timeouts we talked about rebounding, and we went out there and did it and were able to come out with a win."
