Auburn Head Coach Nell Fortner

Opening statement... "Georgia came out and played hard defensively, which made it very hard for us to run any effective offensive. Their defense was very good today, and our offense was not."

On the slow start... "Their defense was the reason for our slow start. They were trapping us all over the court, and we just could not get out of it. We couldn't see through it, make passes out of it, and handle it very well. That is what put us back on our heels from the beginning. It felt like we were constantly climbing out of a hole all day."

On Georgia's offensive rebounds... "Those are things we try to work on and talk about it all through the game. We just did not box out. We did not do a good job keeping them off the offensive boards, and that was definitely a factor in the game."

On going to Vanderbilt and Arkansas on the road... "We just have to get up tomorrow and get back to work. That's all you can do. You can't get too high over a win or too low over loss. This conference season moves way to fast, so we have to be constantly be preparing for the next opponent and be ready to play."

Auburn Players

On Georgia's defensive pressure... "It affected us early in the first half. They jumped out to a 19-4 lead. They were trapping us, we were not prepared for it. We weren't ready for the pressure. We had a lot of turnovers early and we couldn't make shots. Once we calmed down and got going, we were already in a hole and couldn't come out of it."

On she and Hasina Muhammad scoring points late... "I think we were just working around more. We were penetrating and kicking and working together to pass the ball around, being calm on the offensive end and not worrying about the pressure."

On preparing for Vanderbilt... "It's going be a tough couple days of practice because they are going to use the same pressure as Georgia, and they are going to come out and hit us hard. Vandy is a tough team to play, so we just are going to come out and play hard."

Georgia Players

Jasmine James, Jr., G.

On the importance of this win against Auburn... "I feel like this win meant a lot to us. After coming off the loss to Tennessee we really realized a lot of things we need to focus on and a lot of things we need to work on and that helped us to be able to realize the things that we need to try to improve on within this game. It meant a lot for us to come out with a lot of energy and to come out and play hard today and try to come out with a win."

On the season as a whole so far... "I feel like it's going well. I feel like we've done a really good job of, game by game and practice by practice, identifying our weaknesses and the things we need to work on and being able to improve upon those things, so I think we've done a really good job so far, but we haven't been doing a really good job of closing out games that we've played, like the Tennessee game. I think we've been doing well, but I think we could be doing much better and still have a lot of room to improve."

Jasmine Hassell, Jr., F.

On the importance of this win against Auburn... "I think we played with a lot more energy and a lot more effort. I feel like we executed the game plan our coaches gave us and I think it's finally Georgia basketball. I think we did a great job."

On the type of basketball she plays... "The last game the effort wasn't showed by any of us and I think that's what we really wanted to hang our hats on, getting 50/50 plays and playing Georgia basketball."

On her personal progression... "I feel good. I still have a lot to work on, individually and as a team. As the season keeps going I hope to keep getting better and keep improving."

On the season as a whole so far... "I agree with JJ, I still feel like we have a lot to improve on and get better and I think as the season goes on we'll get better than what we are now."

Georgia Head Coach Andy Landers

Opening statement... "Obviously an effort that our team and our coaches are very proud of and pleased with, an effort motivated by performance Thursday night in Knoxville that was very much lacking. We just felt like we had to turn it up, that we needed to be aggressive and leave everything on the court. I think we did that today."

On coming off of a loss... "Defensively, we jumped them hard early and I was impressed that we were able to stay there basically for 40 minutes. I thought early on defense set the tone. We got some things on the ball screens and did a good job of pressuring the basketball. At the 16 minute mark of the first half I think the score was four to one, that was misleading because we had let three balls roll off and it should have been 10, but then we really caught a different gear and ran in out to 17. We started clicking offensively and kept things where they were defensively, so now we got it going on both ends and feeling good about what we are doing. The kids just got caught up, but they understand where everything was coming from effort."

On Jasmine Hassell ... "She just keeps getting better, and better and better. Today honestly was probably one of her top-five weaker performances of the season. Her effort was good, her intensity was very good and her energy was great, but she is a high percentage shooter. For her to go five of fifteen was probably a first for her."
