Melissa Maines enters her eighth season at Auburn as Director of Basketball Operations. She came to Auburn with head coach Nell Fortner after a two-year stint at Florida as the Assistant to the Head Coach.
The Lubbock, Texas, native is in charge of summer camps, team travel, game day preparations, equipment, budget and monitoring players' academic progress. While at Florida, Maines handled a variety of duties for the coaching staff and team including team travel, equipment inventory, camp administration, community relations and special events programs.
Before arriving at Florida, Maines served as the Regional Director for Women's Athletics at Texas Tech. Her duties ranged from coordinating Texas Tech women's basketball charter flights, to organization of fan groups and trips, to on-air color commentary for radio broadcasts. She also was in charge of season-opening luncheons for football and basketball and assisted in all aspects of women's basketball head coach Marsha Sharp's Leadership Circle.
From 1998-2000, Maines served as the Director of Basketball Operations at Texas Tech as she coordinated all film exchange, studied and scouted film, organized game day preparations, monitored student-athlete academic progress, assisted in running camps, assisted with travel arrangements and handled equipment distribution and inventory.
Maines is a 1998 graduate of Texas Tech with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sports Science and a Master's of Science with a Sports Administration Emphasis in May 2001.
