Janese Banks was an administrative assistant with the Auburn women's basketball team for the 2011-12 season. She came to Auburn after graduating from Wisconsin in 2008 with a degree in legal studies. She pursued a master's degree in adult education from Auburn.
Banks, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., played at Wisconsin from 2004-08, averaging 12.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game for her career. She was named honorable mention All-Big Ten in 2006 and 2007, All-Big Ten third team in 2008 and Academic All-Big Ten in 2006, 2007 and 2008. She was also named one of Glamour Magazine's 2007 Top 10 College Women award winners.
Wisconsin made two post-season appearances during Banks' tenure, advancing to the WNIT in 2007 and 2008, earning runner-up honors in 2007. Banks also finisher her career as just one of 10 Wisconsin players ever to tally more than 1,500 career points.
Following her time at Wisconsin, Banks played professionally for three seasons in the Ukraine, Switzerland and Iceland. She played for Marel-Cherkasy in the Ukraine in 2009 and was named to the Ukranian UBL League All-Star Game. For the 2009-10 season, she played for BCF Elfic Fribourg Basket in Switzerland, leading her team to the Swiss Cup Finals. She was also named to the Eurobasket.com All-Swiss LNA Second Team and the All-Defensive Team.
She played her final professional season in 2010-11, playing for U.M.F. Grindavik in Iceland.
She is the daughter of James and Gwen Banks, and has one brother, James. Her brother played college football at Tennessee and Carson-Newman. He has also played professionally in the CFL and the Arena Football League.
