AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn men’s tennis junior Lukas Ollert earned his first career berth to the individual NCAA Championships as the NCAA released the 64-player singles draw and 32-team doubles bracket on Wednesday.
The singles and doubles individual competition will be played at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., May 21-26, following the conclusion of the team championship.
Ollert has played at the No. 1 spot for Auburn throughout much of SEC slate and steadily climbed the ITA singles rankings throughout the spring. The junior capped off the regular season with a pair of ranked wins over top-25 opponents. He heads into the postseason with a 19-12 overall record in singles and 12-8 mark in dual matches. Ollert’s selection marks the eighth straight season Auburn has sent at least one player to the individual championships, dating back to 2007.
Senior Daniel Cochrane was also selected as the third alternate for the singles draw. Cochrane leads the team with a 24-8 overall record and is 14-5 in dual matches this year, playing mostly at the No. 2 line. Cochrane earned three wins over ranked opponents during the 2014 dual match season, and will be the third player called on if three players seeded above him withdraw.
Auburn begins its NCAA team championship run on May 10 at 11 a.m. versus Harvard in the first round in Norman, Okla.
