Cochrane, Ollert selected to All-SEC Men's Tennis Team

April 24, 2014

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Senior Daniel Cochrane and junior Lukas Ollert were named to the All-SEC Men's Tennis Team, the Southeastern Conference announced on Thursday.

Both players were named to the All-SEC Second Team as Cochrane earned his second straight selection, while the honor for Ollert was his first All-SEC selection of his career.

"I'm really happy for both of these players. They have put in a tremendous amount of effort and it's nice to see them get rewarded," Auburn head coach Eric Shore said. "It's great to see Dan honored for the second straight season. He has really worked on his game and gotten better in the last year. Lukas continue to improve and playing at the top of the lineup is no easy task. He will continue to get better and played well for us down the stretch, picking up ranked wins over top-25 players."

Cochrane and Ollert have spent the 2014 dual match season at the top of Auburn's singles lineup. Cochrane has been ranked by the ITA throughout the season and leads the Tigers with a 24-8 overall record, 14-5 mark in dual matches and a 6-3 record against SEC opponents. The senior won 10 straight matches from November to February, which ranked as the second-longest winning streak in the country in singles to start the season.

Ollert has picked up six wins over ranked opponents, including two of top-25 players in the final three weekends of the regular season. The junior is tied for second on the team with 19 overall wins and is 12-8 in dual matches. He has recorded a 5-3 mark in the SEC and is 7-8 when playing at the No. 1 spot in the lineup.

In doubles, Cochrane and spent most of the year playing with freshman Oliver Plaskett at the No. 1 spot. The pair has won two matches over ranked opponents this season for the Tigers. Ollert has been paired with senior Dennis Lengsfeld at the No. 2 spot in the lineup, posting an 18-11 overall record with an 11-0 in dual matches. The tandem also won the UNLV Larry Easley Memorial back in November 2013 in Las Vegas.

Selections for the 2014 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships will be revealed on Monday, April 29 at 4 p.m. CT on NCAA.com. 16 campus sites will host the first and second round of the NCAA Championships starting May 8. The individual and teams championships begin May 16 in Athens, Ga.
