AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn men’s tennis team (7-3) hosts the South Alabama Jaguars (1-2) Friday in a 4 p.m. CT match at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. Fans attending will receive a free 2018 schedule poster.
“South Alabama is a scrappy, fighting team and we lost to them last year in Mobile,” Auburn coach Bobby Reynolds said, “but this year it will be a lot of our new guys versus their new guys. We’ve played 10 matches in four weekends, more than a lot of teams, so our guys are seeing the ball really well. I’m happy with where we are right now.
“Eight or nine guys saw action last weekend and succeeded; the guys were ready to go and responded well. To come out of last weekend 3-1 and winning three of the four doubles points was really what I was looking for. Our guys fought to the very end; I wanted to push them mentally and physically so they can see what it will take when we get into the SEC schedule.”
With the full roster now available, Reynolds is still working with various lineup moves to find the best possible combinations for conference play beginning in three weeks.
The Tigers are now 7-3 on the spring season. All Auburn home matches are held at the Yarbrough Tennis Center (771 Yarbrough Farms Blvd., Auburn), and admission is free.
