AUBURN - After Wednesday's 7-0 sweep over Troy, the Auburn men's tennis team (1-0) is ready to hit the court again as the Tigers host Southern Mississippi (1-3) and Arizona State (1-0).

Action begins Friday with a 1:30 p.m. match against Southern Miss and continues Sunday with a 12 p.m. meeting with the Sun Devils. Both matches will take place at the City of Auburn / Auburn University Yarbrough Tennis Center.

"We have not played Southern Miss in a couple of years, so it is a little bit of an unknown there," said head coach Eric Shore. "But, they will be another solid match before we see Arizona State on Sunday, which will be a good test for us as it always is when we play them."

In Arizona State, Auburn matches up with a team ranked in the ITA Coaches Poll for the first time this season in dual competition.

"They are ranked below us (No. 44) but I believe they are a better team than that," said Shore. "The last few times we played them, it always seems to be a close match and it should be on Sunday. I just hope we are ready to compete."

The Tigers open the weekend against the Golden Eagles, a team Auburn has dominated since Shore took over the program. AU holds a 10-0 all-time series advantage with all 10 meetings coming under Shore's watch.

The last meeting between the teams was in the 2006 season with the Tigers pulling off a 7-0 sweep for the fourth time ever against Southern Miss.

Auburn has not had as much luck against the Sun Devils, but has always competed well against the Pac-10 Team as five of the last six matches have been decided by a score of 4-3. Arizona State leads the all-time series 8-3, but all three wins have come in recent years as Shore holds a 3-6 record against ASU.

The last meeting between the teams was a 4-3 Auburn loss in Tempe, Ariz. The Tigers were able to get a small preview of Sunday's match in the fall when Auburn traveled out to the Arizona State Thunderbird Classic.

Auburn and ASU went head-to-head four times in the tournament (three singles matches, one doubles match) with each team winning two.

Southern Miss enters the weekend with a 1-3 record, losing to No. 13 Alabama (7-0), No. 70 UNLV (6-1) and St. Mary's (5-2). The lone win for the Golden Eagles came against Alcorn State (7-0).

Arizona State has fallen victim to weather so far this season as the team has only played one of its three scheduled matches. The Sun Devils earned the 7-0 win in their only competition, taking down No. 49 San Diego State.
