Men's Tennis Ranked In Opening Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings

AUBURN, Ala. - With the 2010 spring season fast approaching, the Auburn men's tennis team finds itself ranked among the nation's top 25. The Tigers sit at No. 23 in the inaugural Campbell/ITA College Tennis Rankings, announced Wednesday. The Tigers are led by junior Tim Puetz and sophomore Alex Stamchev, each having had a successful fall season. The pair was ranked No. 21 in the preseason ITA doubles rankings, while Puetz was listed at No. 54 in the singles rankings. The USC Trojans sit atop of the polls after capturing their 17th NCAA team title last season. Three SEC schools are ranked in the top 10 in Tennessee (5), Georgia (7) and Ole Miss (10). Also joining Auburn are Florida at No. 11, Kentucky at No. 14 and Alabama at No. 18. The Tigers kick off the spring season at Virginia Tech for a three-day tournament, starting on Jan. 22 in Blacksburg.
