TEMPE, Ariz. - Auburn's Alex Petropoulos and Lukas Marsoun went 2-1 Saturday at the Arizona State Thunderbird Classic, picking up two singles wins while falling in doubles.

Both Tigers are slated for consolation singles at doubles matches on Sunday, beginning at 9 a.m. PT.

With the losses, head coach Eric Shore was disappointed but was pleased with the way his players responded.

"I thought we came back very well after the doubles loss to pick up the singles wins," said Shore. "Playing in a situation like that just prepares us more and gives us something to work on in our final tournament next weekend."

Auburn wraps up the fall season with the Auburn Fall Classic, Nov. 16-18, with LSU, South Carolina and Troy coming in for the weekend tournament.

In Saturday's singles play, Petropoulos defeated New Mexico State's Roman Stoisavjevic, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. Marsoun picked up his win over Arizona State's T.J. Bellama, 7-6(2), 6-3.

Petropoulos is slated for a matchup with Arkansas' Tyler Taransky on Sunday while Marsoun is scheduled to play Arizona State's McBride.

In doubles, Petropoulos and Marsoun lost, 8-3, to Arizona State's T.J. Bellama and Juan Carlos Rebaza. The pair will face off against Arkansas' Christopher Nott and Tyler Taransky on Sunday.
