Oct. 24, 2008
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Only one Auburn player is left standing after day one of the Crimson Tide Fall Invitational as Michel Monteiro picked up a first-round win to move on to the second round of the Shealy Steadmann singles draw.
Rain forced the tournament indoors on Friday where Monteiro and Alex Petropoulos were defeated in their first doubles match of the day by Bernie Bachino and Gustavo Holz of Jacksonville State, 8-4.
Of three Auburn singles players, Monteiro was the only one to defeat his first round opponent.
Monteiro defeated Wesley Moran of Clemson, 6-2, 6-4.
